September 12 x 12 Sampler - Framed Art

Still a learning curve... I typed this up and thought I scheduled it for Saturday or Sunday... I think I forgot to hit the "publish" button... oh well!

These 12 x 12 Samplers are one of my most popular classes!  Basically you purchase one frame, find a great place in your home or office to display... and each month you come and stamp a new Sampler to switch out and display at home!
Here is what we made this month to display in September:

The project is 12 x 12 - background is Garden Green, then there's an 8 1/2" square of Delightful Dijon, then the 8 1/8" square of Very Vanilla. Each of the 9 squares are 2 1/4" bases, here I used Real Red and Garden Green, then there is a 2" layer of either Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla or Garden Green.  And then... comes the fun embellishments!  We use lots of punch art, making 9 squares that keep with the monthly theme - Last year's September Sampler had a touch of "Back to School" (see previous post here somewhere... not hard to find, there's only 4 total... hah!)

You can see we use lots of punches when we make these samplers, which is why it's a great class to attend... it would be $100's of dollars to purchase all the punches you need for a project like this....

My cute scarecrow was everyone's favorite square this month!  We used the biggest oval punch for his hat and head, Heart Border punch for cheeks, 7/8" scallop for "shirt collar" , Tree Builder punch for the little bird on his hat (we free hand cut the longer beak to look like a crow) , The Fringe Scissors worked great to make the hair... and those "eyeballs"... Too cool!  It's white circles punched with the Owl Punch, then we colored the largest pearl with a black Sharpie!  Stitches on his scrap nose and his mouth were freehanded with a Basic Black Marker -   I love how he turned out...

I've gotten lots of requests in the past for me to offer these Samplers as Kits in the Mail ... I've posted many samples on my Facebook Page  go take a look!  .... Let's get some comments and see if there's enough interest in "Kits in the Mail"     FYI-  We're not allowed to sell stamped images, so the kit would include the punch pieces, squares, etc ... everything BUT the stamped images.

WOO HOO!  I did it... another blog post!  Maybe this is really gonna happen!  It's kinda fun... but I'm a bit chatty... you should have seen how much I typed... and deleted.... LOL

August Grand Vacation Achievers Blog Hop

Welcome!  I'm so excited... this is my first "blog hop"!  This month we are featuring our "Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek"... and lots of talented stampers are involved, so enjoy!

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Glenda Travelstead, Stand Up Stamper,  or perhaps you're dropping in from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below my project will help you move along from blog to blog so you won't miss a project.

I've decided to start with a fun fall Stamp Set,  Lighthearted Leaves, Item # 139712 - it's a Photopolymer stamp set, 10 stamps for $26.00 - Of course you will also want the coordinating Leaflets Framelits set from the "Big Book" - Item #138283 $25.00 Cuts 6 different leaf shapes!
Let's start easy...

I love the simplicity of this layout - And just two colors, Very Vanilla and Tip Top Taupe.  We have the standard card base, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and folded to be the 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card.  Tip Top Taupe layer is a 3" square, then a 2 3/4" square of Very Vanilla - notice the detail!  I've run the Vanilla square through the Big Shot with our NEW Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing folder (#139673 $8.50)  I've stamped the leave with Tip Top Taupe Ink onto Tip Top Taupe Cardstock, then cut with the coordinating Framelit. I crumpled it a bit, attached with Stampin' Dimensionals  Add the greeting which is included in the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set... and you are done!    Too easy?
Then this next one is for you!

Love this card!  I came across a similar card somewhere, probably on Pinterest... and just adapted it to our Stampin' Up! Products!  I used the stamp stamp set, framelits and embossing folder...
TO MAKE THE "FUNKY PUMPKIN" - You start with a 4 1/2 x 4 inch piece of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock, Run through Big Shot with the Woodland Embossing Folder, Round 4 corners, then CUT INTO 1" strips - SPONGE all edges with Cajun Craze Ink, Round each strip a bit with your bone folder, then attach with Stampin' Dimensionals - You can "free hand cut" your stem, or if that's an issue for you :)  I used the Bow Builder punch and cut the main piece in half on an angle... walah!  A stem... Leaves are stamped with Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze and Old Olive on coordinating cardstock and cut with Leaflet Framelits.  Greeting is from another new stamp set "A Little Something" and comes wood mount #139827 for $23.00 or Clear mount rubber #139830 for $17.00 includes 9 fun stamps, it's featured on Page 41 of the NEW Holiday Catalog!  Contact me if you need a copy!

I hope you enjoyed my two projects... remember I'm a "rookie blogger" ... so be patient with me... nothing like using the "sink or swim" theory here and just jumping into this pool with a BLOG HOP... woo hoo!
Remember, you're at Glenda Travelstead's blog, so just click the next name on the list here to continue the hop.... LOTS of talented stampers with lots to share today!

I LOVE THIS CARD... it's fast... it's fabulous... and you can use ANY greeting you have or need... this one features the Cottage Greetings set  #138940 $26.00 wood mount or #139962 clear mount rubber $16.00  - Featured on Page 94 in your hymnal, I mean Catalog... Notice it has an awesome coordinating card kit  #138377  $16.00 - makes FIFTEEN CARDS!  Well... IT doesn't make the cards, YOU make the cards... the kit just does all the hard parts for you... geez I'm such a card!  Oh wait... maybe that's why Amanda Frankel suggested the blog name... Stand Up Stamper!  hah! Has nothing to do with standing up... lol

and I'm just getting started on this blog thing folks... wait til I figure out VIDEOS!

Back to the card... if you're wondering about the designer paper... wonder no more!  It's our new2015 - 2017 In Color ENVELOPE paper # 138312 TWENTY SHEETS... only $6.00... it's lighter weight, especially for envelopes... but since it's 12 x 12, you always have leftover pieces - perfect for strips like this on a card!  I used TIP TOP TAUPE - it's pretty in all of the colors... and probably would have photograghed better in Watermelon Wonder... or Cucumber Crush... but I swapped all those at convention...

SO... if you're needing any of these supplies... or any other Stampin' supplies... just find my cute kitty with the shopping cart on the right and click... it will take you to my online store!
